Programme in Sri City
Sricity, February 18, 2023: Dr. Velugoti Bhaskara Saikrishna Yachendra, the heir of the Velugoti Royal family of Venkatagiri, an eminent scholar, composer, singer, Chairman of Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel (SVBC) performed ‘Sangeetha Geyadhara’ programme in Sri City on Saturday. This was his 403rd Geyadhara programme organised by Sri City’s Spiritual and Literary forum Srivani.
Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City, extended a warm welcome to Dr. Yachendra and the distinguished participants of the programme. While Kandanur Madhu acted as the coordinator of the programme, Mr. Palleti Balaji introduced the Mrs. Shobha Raja, Mrs. Bhoomana Kusuma Kumari, Mr. Panatula Subhramaniam, Mr. JK Reddy, Mr. Venkata Ramajogi, Mr. Kameswara Rao, who were the pruchchakas (askers) of the programme.
In the programme, these pruchchakas suggested Dr. Saikrishna Yechendra certain themes, while specifying a raaga of their choice as well. He instantly composed lyrics, the pallavi, charanam and taanam of the songs, in the raaga indicated. While Mrs. Shobha Raja suggested to sing a song depicting the Ardha Nareeswara tatwam, Mr. Subhramanyam suggested to sing it in Chaturasra Gati in Kalyani raga. Similarly, Mrs. Kusuma Kumari asked to sing a song glorifying Goddess Parvati using a few specified words, Mr. Subhramaniam suggested to sing the song in Shanmukha Priya ragam in Tisragati. Mr. Kameswara Rao suggested to sing on the theme of Girija Kalyanam. The programme was interspaced by the intentional interventions by JK Reddy interrupting the stream of thought of Dr. Yachendra. Mr. Ramajogi asked Dr. Yachendra to sing a song by suggesting the initial phrase of the song.
Appreciating the success achieved by Sri City Dr. Yachendra presented a charming song. The programme was attended by distinguished invitees from industries of Sri City, Sullurupeta, Chennai and Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.
