Distinguished persons from various disciplines were honoured
with the Ugadi puraskarams
Sri City, March 23, 2023: Under the aegis of Sri City’s Spiritual and Literary Forum ‘Srivani,’ Ugadi festivities were organised. Six distinguished individuals from diverse literary specialties received Ugadi honours from Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City, at a ceremony held here on Wednesday. While Dr. Kasala Nagabhushanam, former Telugu Professor, Chennai was conferred with Ugadi Telugu language award, Mr. Vakkalanka Sitaramarao (pen name: VaSira) received Ugadi Telugu poetry award. Ms. Kuppili Padma was given Ugadi Telugu story award, Mr. Onti Ravi and Mr. Ramu Maharajapuram were presented the Ugadi spiritual award and the Ugadi singer award, respectively. Mr. Gopalachari Sridharan, noted journalist from Tirupati was conferred with the Ugadi journalist award in absentia.
Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, who welcomed the awardees, stated, “Srivani, which was created to foster spiritual and literary interests within the Sri City community, will organise programmes like these featuring local talents.” He welcomed employees, housewives, students, and others residing in and around Sri City to participate.
The awardees thanked the MD Sri City for inviting them to receive the awards. They were all thrilled about the greenery as well as other sustainability measures that had been put in place.
The ceremony was attended by a good number of employees and their families, as well as guests from Sullurupeta and Sriharikota.
Mr. Ramu, one of the awardees, sang a few devotional telugu songs with tremendous passion, and effectively communicating emotion. Members of the MGR Music School, Sullurupeta, directed by Mrs. D. Jhansi, gave a passionate veena concert, and the audience appreciated the exquisite balance of melody and cadence. Mr. Palleti Balaji, PRO was the compere of the programme.
