Tirupati, September 2, 2024– The 15th death anniversary of Dr. Y.S. Rajashekar Reddy, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, was solemnly observed on Monday in Tirupati. The event, held at a private hotel, was marked by poignant tributes and heartfelt reflections from those who knew him best.

Former TTD Chairman Bumana Karunakar Reddy delivered a moving tribute, stating, “Much less can be said about the greatness of Dr. Y.S. Rajashekar Reddy.” Bumana shared personal anecdotes about his enduring relationship with YSR, recounting how their friendship began during the Emergency period when he was imprisoned on conspiracy charges. He praised YSR for his remarkable kindness and unwavering support, highlighting how YSR’s mentorship played a crucial role in advancing his political career, including his appointment as TTD Chairman.

The anniversary meeting, organized with considerable grandeur, also featured remarks from Tirupati MP Dr. Maddila Guru Moorthy. Dr. Moorthy reflected on his experiences with Dr. YSR during his time as a physiotherapy student at SVIMS, noting his interactions with the visionary leader and the positive impact of YSR’s welfare schemes on his family. He expressed deep gratitude for the support and encouragement he received from YSR and his son, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, which he believes significantly contributed to his own political success.

In a closed session, MLC Dr. Sipai Subramanyam shared his memories of YSR’s kindness and his contributions to healthcare, particularly highlighting the Rajiv Arogyasri health scheme. Dr. Subramanyam lauded the scheme for its significant impact on improving healthcare access for the poor, saving countless lives.
